Echo Global Logistics said its first-quarter profit rose as revenue climbed to a record high.

Net income improved to $3.3 million, or 15 cents per share, from $2.2 million, or 10 cents, a year ago.

Revenue climbed 30.2% to $168.6 million, the Chicago-based third-party logistics company said late Thursday.

Echo also reported a 21.9% gain in shipment volume.

The company said it had 185 enterprise clients in the first quarter, up from 154 a year ago.

In a statement, CEO Doug Waggoner reaffirmed the company’s previously announced 2012 revenue guidance of $740 million to $780 million.
