The Supreme Court Thursday upheld President Obama’s healthcare law that expands insurance to millions of Americans, Bloomberg reported.
In a 5-4 vote, the court rule that Congress had the power to make Americans carry insurance or pay a penalty.
Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the majority opinion that the healthcare mandate can be upheld under Congress’ power to tax, Bloomberg said.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce said in a statement that the law is “fundamentally flawed� and that “it is imperative that policymakers and the business community now work together to develop and support genuine reforms that control costs, improve access, ensure quality and promote wellness.�
