Echo Global Logistics has announced plans to introduce new transportation management software that is tailored to the needs of large shippers who do not have their own systems.
In a Tuesday statement, the third party logistics provider announced that the new service was called FlexTMS.
FlexTMS “is tailored for shippers with strong buying power and carrier leverage, but lacking advanced technology, the statement said. “The self-service cloud-based (Software as a Service) TMS gives these shippers advanced functionality without the large capital investment necessary to acquire and implement their own software.
The system is designed to give users the ability to reach experts for assistance as needed as well as having a Web-based portal that is customized to their needs.
Services that are included are routing guide management, automated load entry, tendering and acceptance, load visibility, and reporting.
Previously, Echo had focused its transport management systems offerings at mid-sized customers.
Echo, Chicago, provides a blend of brokerage-oriented services that include two operations. One is transactional systems to serve the spot market and shippers with flexible requirements. The other, known as “enterprise, is meant to provide third-party services to specific customers on longer-term basis.
