Jobless Claims Rise for Week

Initial jobless claims increased by 2,000 last week to 393,000, the Labor Department said Wednesday.

Economists had forecast 390,000 new claims, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, declined to 394,250, the lowest since April, from 397,500 the previous week.

Continuing jobless claims for the previous week ended Nov. 12 climbed by 68,000 to 3.7 million.
