Navistar International Corp. said it plans to sign a lease agreement that would give the company a third plant in Alabama.

Navistar’s announcement said the facility in Barton would be leased from Retirement Systems of Alabama.

The company’s other two plants are in Huntsville, about 75 miles east of the new facility.

Navistar expects to take possession of the plant on Jan. 1.
