Old Dominion Opens New Container Drayage Facility in Alabama

Old Dominion Freight Line opened a new container drayage site to serve all ports and container yards in the Mobile, Alabama, area.

The new site, the second opened this year, will offer pick-up and delivery to any point in the continental United States, the carrier said.

Old Dominion’s container drayage services include direct point-to-point delivery, loading, unloading, short term warehousing and container pools for the convenience of import and export shippers.

Old Dominion has been operating container drayage for more than 50 years and offers direct services from 11 cities in addition to Mobile: Atlanta; Chicago; Los Angeles; Memphis, Tennessee; Norfolk, Virginia; Wilmington, North Carolina; Charlotte, North Carolina; Charleston, South Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; Huntsville, Alabama; and Jacksonville, Florida.

In 2010, Old Dominion container drayage operations grew by 35 percent, and the company says it continues to see strong growth in 2011.
