Ryder System said it will acquire The Scully Companies, a California-based provider of contract carriage and related services.
Ryder and Scully will finalize the agreement in late January, it said late Thursday. The companies did not disclose any other terms of the agreement.
Scully, Fontana, Calif., provides equipment leasing and contract maintenance in addition to contract carriage, Ryder said.
Ryder will acquire all of Scully’s 1,800 lease units, 300 rental units, 200 contract customers and six service facilities in California and Arizona.
Scully’s contract carriage business is ranked No. 50 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of U.S. and Canadian logistics companies. Ryder is ranked No. 7 on the list.
