PORTLAND, Ore. — Western Star expects to double its market share in the heavy-duty truck market by 2014, according to its general manager, Michael Jackson.
During a press event at company headquarters here this week, Jackson said officials expect to capture 4% of total truck sales in the United States and Canada by then, more than doubling the 1.9% market share it currently holds.
Western Star, the several service and specialty subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America, is the smallest of the seven heavy-duty truck brands in North America.
Last year, Western Star sold 2,345 over-the-road and vocational models in the United States and Canada.
